Off-air activities and facilitator skills and knowledge needed to coordinate the later 32-hour course are addressed during this 8-hour training program. The total distance learning program is a research-based, practical course that teaches implementation methods of principles of effective interventions ("What Works") to affect offender behavior change and recidivism. At the same time, the realities of day-to-day life in managing this unique population of offenders are addressed using modeled behaviors and guided practice for both security and treatment staff.
