Local Jails: The Missing Piece of the Community Policing Paradigm

Ways in which community policing can work inside jails are discussed. Community policing principles can be applied in jails through direct supervision, inmate labor crews, inmate intervention and education, mental health services, problem solving, customer service orientation, and community involvement.
