When the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office and Correctional Center needed a place to build a new facility, the best site available was a 700 foot median strip of an interstate highway. The author discusses how the county was able to successfully build a direct supervision facility that is 144,000 gross square feet, covering 8.2 acres, housing a 332 bed correctional center and a 62 bed minimum security center, between lanes of a highway.
