The "prevalent phenomenon of disproportionate minority contact (DMC) in the juvenile justice system" is described (p. v). Eight chapters comprise this monograph: measuring racial disparities in the juvenile justice system; policy changes and their effect on DMC; federal legislation mandating reduction of DMC; causal factors of juvenile DMC -- the problem of compound risk; effective methods for and approaches to reducing DMC; successful models; multiple intervention strategies; and a call to action.
