Education programs that address the unique needs of female offenders for literacy and community reentry are described. This article discusses: female offenders' needs; innovative programs -- HIV Peer Tutoring, Tales for the Rising Moon, FREE (Family Recovery Embraces Education), Children's Play Day, Parenting, Nutrition, college, life skills, Literacy, and the Inmate Tutor Corp; and the Cyclical Curriculum approach for attaining a GED.
