The Reconviction Rate of Federal Offenders

Recidivism, as measured by any new conviction for an offense committed within two years of release from prison, for three cohorts is investigated. Sections contained in this report are: executive summary; the measurement of recidivism; making choices for the assessment of recidivism; method and data integrity; results; and summary. The majority of reconvictions were nonviolent, with cohorts averaging reconviction rates of 42.5%. Accession Number: 018950
