A National Study Comparing the Environments of Boot Camps to Traditional Facilities for Juvenile Offenders. Final Report

Environmental components of boot camps and more traditional juvenile facilities are measured, analyzed, and compared utilizing factor analysis and 14 environmental scales. Findings are presented for: juvenile perceptions; staff perceptions; comparison of juvenile and staff perceptions; individual adjustment and change; summary of perceptions and change; policies, procedures, and institutional records; and pilot study using video to access the environment of juvenile facilities. Juveniles and staff consistently believe that boot camps are better in most aspects than traditional facilities. Accession Number: 017774
