Substance Abuse Report -- Inmate programs

Findings based on analysis of data regarding substance abuse programs in state prisons from July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000 are presented. This report contains the following sections: program types; glossary of terms; demographics, outcomes, and recommitment rates across program types; tier 1 (psychological/education) substance abuse program services; modality 1 (intensive outpatient services); modality 2 (long-term, residential therapeutic community (TC) services); modality 3 (comprehensive outpatient, relapse and transitional services); and residential co-occurring disorders (dual diagnosis). Modality 3 had the highest success rate (three years after program entry) of 95.8%, with Modality 2 having the lowest success rate of 54.5%. Accession Number: 017004
