Juveniles in Adult Prisons and Jails: A National Assessment

"This study represents the most thorough examination to date of the issues presented by youth who are incarcerated in adult facilities" (p. x). In addition to an executive summary that discusses the historical context, objectives, major findings, and recommendations of this study, the following chapters are included: introduction; legal issues related to conditions of confinement for youth in adult facilities; characteristics of juveniles housed in adult jails and prisons; management issues; and alternative strategies and technical assistance.
