Impact of Educational Achievement of Inmates in the Windham School District on Post-Release Employment

The Windham School District operates educational, vocational, and life skills training programs in Texas prisons. This report evaluates the impact of prison-based education on post-release employment. In general, those inmates with higher achievement scores at release from prison are more likely to be employed and earn higher wages than those inmates with lower scores. Of the adult basic education study groups, those inmates that earned a GED in prison have the highest post-release employment rates and wages. Accession Number: 016167
