Four research sites were selected for evaluation of their batterer intervention systems, and the men and their battered partners were interviewed by phone every three months for 15 months. Theh reassault rate for the participants in the four programs falls between 32 percent and 39 percent, with the unexpected result that there was no significant difference in the outcomes of the four programs. The shorter programs appear to be as effective as the longer ones, as well.
