The Jail System

Wisconsin ha 72 counties and 81 jail facilities with a combined rated capacity of 17,678. The WI Dept. of Corrections inspects jails and enforces jail compliance.

The Prison System

The Dept. of Corrections managed 23,743 inmates in 2007, operates 20 facilities and a network of 16 smaller correctional centers, and has 9,443 employees.

The Community Corrections System

The DOC's Div. of Community Corrections supervised 53,230 probationers and 16,986 parolees in 2007.
