The Jail System

Tennessee has 95 counties with 107 jail facilties. Combined rated capacity of jails 22,253. A jail standards and inspection program is operated by the Tennessee Corrections Institute.

The Prison System

There were 26,267 state prison inmates in Tennessee in 2007. The Dept. of Correction manages 12 prisons in the state system and 3 others are privately operated. The DOC has 5,045 staff.

The Community Corrections System

The Div. of Field Services, Bd. Of Probation & Parole, supervises 56,179 probationers and 10,496 parolees.
